A universal dubiety that everyone encounters: what does my future hold? Conventionally, the intellectual approach to this ponder is drawing up a blueprint of one’s desired life path — a virtual list of goals perceived to make one happy or deemed successful and to work towards materialising that list of things; we are always in a relentless pursuit of goals.
But, have you also done such a list of the milestones you have achieved? If you answered ‘no’, do take a retrospective view of your life; celebrate your accomplishments, forgive your naivety, right the wrongs missed by an oversight, recognise your strengths and seize today (forget tomorrow).
The epilogue birthed a retro interior concept centred around the assimilation of oriental and Malaysiana cultural values inspired by the infamous Chow Kit suburb from the 1960s through the late 1980s. As living in the past for a prolonged period is not ideal for progress, the theme is instead designated as an AirBNB short-stay. The dominant colour in this design spans on the spectrum of green, from meadow to emerald, while being supplemented by darker tones in the hues of chestnut, walnut, and dark oak wood colours as well as being enhanced with a pinch of vermilion red.
The common areas encompassing the living room, dining area, and kitchen largely employ the dark hues in the fixture and fittings including the wainscoting wall feature as well as the built-in cabinets and the television console. The retro mood is further amplified with a subtle outlining of brass colours in the furniture selection and decorative items such as the analogue wall clocks, vintage speakers, and gramophones. The same ambience is also extended into the master bedroom and the common bathroom. As observed, the team has demonstrated quite a clever use of ceiling lamps or bathroom sink in shapes resembling lanterns or the oriental rice bowls in the common spaces and the master bedroom. In the secondary bedroom, the team has made the window in a way that it resonates the element of an ancient Chinese folding door to enhance the oriental factor within the space. Lastly, the team has left the closet as an open one in both rooms to remind guests that this is merely a getaway; reward yourself (just enough) with a confidence boost by your past achievements, then pack your things and leave to conquer your next quest.
