Sabah was the most visited state in Malaysia before Covid-19. Expatriates and non-native residents preferred Sabah as their second home. However, during the pandemic, many people lost their jobs. Foreigners sold their homes and went back to their countries, leaving a plummeting housing market behind.
The asking price of high rise buildings dropped up to 20%. Landed properties in the outskirts also saw their sales price drop up to 10%.
However, 2022 is picking up the slack of the last two years. The nation is now moving towards an endemic approach, allowing the economy to revive. As such, many developers launched new properties to kickstart the year.
