When new investors or property buyers venture the property market, it is challenging to pick a developer they can trust with their land or property. The awards are a testament of the goodwill and achievements of the developers over the years. It is often used by the stakeholders to assess a company’s reputation and skills.

Winners of The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards (TPDA)
The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards (TPDA) is known as one of the most prestigious awards in the country. The 19th TPDA took place on 14 December 2021 at the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The gala dinner was graced by the presence of Housing and Local Government Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
This property award evaluates the winners over their distinctive qualitative and quantitative attributes. In the quantitative category, the judges assess the participants on their expertise, image, innovation, creativity, product quality and proposed value to buyers. On the qualitative side, the companies are assessed based on their shareholder’s fund, turnover, profitability and cash flow. To make a just and fair decision, TPDA awards rankings are audited by Deloitte Malaysia.
In 2021, UOA Development Bhd was awarded the Number 1 spot in the award ceremony. Climbing from fourth position from the previous year, coming first in 2021 was a huge achievement for them. UOA was not only the winner of the topmost award of TPDA but also won the Best in Quantitative Attributes sub-award this year.
While receiving the award, UOA Development’s Project General Manager, Stephanie Kong expressed her gratitude, crediting the staff and stakeholders for this achievement.
She exclaimed,
“It is such an honour and we didn’t expect that. Getting the award is not possible without the contributions and support from all the staff and stakeholders of UOA. This award is for each one of us.”
While UOA held the first spot for this year’s TPDA award, S P Setia Bhd was the runner up and Sunway Bhd and Gamuda Bhd’s Property Division were the second runner up.

Winners of The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards (TEPEA) 2021
Apart from TPDA, The Edge Malaysia also features The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards (TEPEA). It is a much anticipated award for the property industry which recognises the most popular property developers of Malaysia. TEPEA hosts several sub awards.
Among these, Penang Harmony Centre by Penang Harmony Corp (Harmonico) won PAM Green Excellence Award 2021.
Residensi Era Novum by Eupe Corp Bhd is the winner of The Edge Malaysia-PEPS Value Creation Excellence Award 2021.
City of Elmina of Sime Darby Property and Gamuda Gardens of Gamuda Bhd (Property Division) tied for Property Development Excellence Award 2021. -
Winners of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia)
PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) recognises the finest developers of Malaysia for its prestigious award. This award is a highly respected and honourable award in the real estate industry. Companies are assessed based on their projects, design and innovation.
Presented by global brand Kohler, it is ranked as the eighth Asia Property Awards in Malaysia. This year, the award was live streamed on 20 December 2021, maintaining no contact SOP to contribute to the curbing of the pandemic in the nation.

Winners of StarProperty Awards 2021
StarProperty Awards 2021 is another recognised awarding body in Malaysia. It is awarded to the finest talent in the real estate industry. In 2021, StarProperty featured awards in 11 categories with 22 subcategories. The participants are evaluated on performance, development and outstanding achievements.
This year, the award function took place on 8 December 2021 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and acknowledged the best property agencies and negotiators.
Kingsman Realty Sdn Bhd (Kingsman) held the Number 1 spot of this esteemed award. They took a quarter of the awards presented in the ceremony including the Best Continuity Award and the Best Negotiator category in All-Stars Awards. Kingsman’s Austin Lim, Benjamin Kuan, Casswen Lim and Davin Low were 4 out of 10 of the Best Negotiators of the All-Stars Awards.
Following Kingsman closely, the runner up of the StartProperty 2021 award is IQI Realty Sdn Bhd (IQI), winning 12 trophies this year. IQI’s Tan was the highlight of the night as she won 3 trophies for herself, which includes the title of the Most Exceptional Leader for the women’s category. Moreover, 3 of IQI’s members, John Teh, Kenny Chia and Swiss Tan are another 3 out of 10 of the Best Negotiators of the All-Stars Awards. They are also the winners of the Best Continuity Award.
The third place for this honourable award is won by Foreward Realty Sdn Bhd, bagging 9 trophies for their performance. Andrian Lim, Azhar Jaafar and Steve Yap are the remaining 3 out 10 of the Best Negotiators who won the All-Stars Awards. Forewards’s Yap won 2 trophies and obtained the trophy for the Most Exceptional Leader for the men’s category.

Winner of BCI Asia Awards (BCIAA) 2020/2021
BCI Asia Awards (BCIAA) started in 2003. Since then, it has garnered a reputation for being the most sought after awarding body for Asian building and design industry. The award recognises developers and architectural firms who have the highest value of project portfolios in the last calendar year.
BCIAA is most respected because achieving this award puts developers in the map not only for Malaysia but also nearby territories as BCIAA is held in seven Asian countries including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
This time, the BCIAA event was held on 3 December 2021 at Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event was graced by Datuk Ezumi Harzani Ismail, president of the Malaysian Institute of Architects, Lai Siew Hong, president of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers and Chan Seong Aun, former president of the Malaysia Green Building Council.
This year, the winner for the Top 10 Developers Award at the BCIAA 2020/2021 is GuocoLand Malaysia (GLM). They are recognised as one of the leading property developers in the country. They won on the merit of their workmanship, sustainable development and for creating healthy living for their customers.
Apart from them, Township developer, LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS) also won this award for sustainable green living and affordable housing, marking their fifth consecutive year winning this award.
The winners of the Property Awards instil trust and assure their stakeholders that they are in good hands. It also helps investors and homebuyers to recognise award winning developers, which can contribute to their decision to whom they can rely for their property investment.
